Malaria is endemic in Nigeria and it remains one of the leading causes of childhood and maternal morbidity and mortality in the Country.
The strategic vision of National Malaria Elimination Programme (NMEP) is a “Malaria Free Nigeria” and its goal is to reduce malaria burden to pre-elimination levels and bring malaria-related mortality to zero. The scale-up of key malaria interventions in recent years has resulted in a significant reduction of the malaria burden in most malaria endemic countries in sub-Saharan Africa, including Nigeria.
