Malaria is highly endemic in Nigeria and it remains one of the leading causes of childhood and maternal morbidity and mortality in the country. The National Malaria Elimination Programme (NMEP) is responsible for ensuring a coordinated response to malaria elimination efforts in the country with the strategic vision of being “Malaria Free Nigeria”.

NMEP’s strategies and approaches to achieving her goals are articulated in the current National Malaria Control Strategic Plan (NMSP) (2014-2020) that aims to scale up malaria prevention and treatment services to cover at least 80% of the population at risk.
